Built by Irkut, Blue 04 showed the features that set the MKM apart: a modern glass cockpit, Western sourced avionics, laser and missile warning sensors, and thrust vectoring AL-31FP engines. During the 2007 show it performed tight turns, tail slides, and other post stall maneuvers to highlight its agility. The aircraft helped complete testing of the MKM's mixed systems and confirmed performance before deliveries to the Royal Malaysian Air Force.
