Air Canada Boeing 767-200 “Gimli Glider” C-GAUN – JC Wings 1:200 – XX20208

This JC Wings 1:200 collectible reproduces Air Canada's Boeing 767-200 C-GAUN, famously known as the “Gimli Glider”. Its historic red-and-white Air Canada livery recalls a remarkable chapter in Canadian aviation history.

Air Canada Flight 143 – July 23, 1983

During a flight from Montréal to Edmonton, a fuel quantity calculation error involving metric conversion caused the Boeing 767 to run out of fuel in flight. Captain Robert Pearson and First Officer Maurice Quintal successfully glided the powerless airliner to an emergency landing at the former military airfield in Gimli, Manitoba, then being used for motorsport. All 61 passengers and 8 crew members survived. The incident earned C-GAUN its enduring nickname, the Gimli Glider.
