McDonnell Douglas F/A-18C Hornet
USN VFA-195 Dambusters, NF400 Chippy Ho, 2010
Hobby Master 1:72 HA3566
In the fall of 2010 the VFA-195 "Dambusters" began to convert to the new F/A-18E Super Hornet. VFA-195 became the first unit to fully equip with the F/A-18E. The callsign for VFA-195 for the CAG aircraft NF400 1648899 is "Chippy" so the name "Chippy Ho" was a natural, similar to "Tally Ho". There have been 3 "Chippy Ho" marked F-18C's, Bu. No's 163758, 164899 and 164905. VFA-195 became the "Dambusters" because they took part in busting dams in the Korean War.ersary and continued to wear this scheme for several years. These aircraft were later upgraded to F-18A+/B+.
McDonnell Douglas F/A-18C Hornet
Designed as a replacement for the A-4 Skyhawk and the A-7 Corsair II and as a complement to the F-14 Tomcat, the F/A-18 first flew on November 18, 1978. Perhaps best known as the aircraft of the US Navy's Blue Angels, this carrier-capable, supersonic, all-weather fighter has many roles, including fighter escort, fleet air defense and close air support. The F/A-18 is a versatile aircraft: it can operate from carriers or land bases and a single switch converts it from fighter to strike mode. During Operation Desert Storm, the F/A-18 proved that, on a single mission, one aircraft could serve as both fighter and a bomber.
