AFV 24218-40
The WC-63 was a 1.5-Ton 6x6 cargo and personnel carrier produced by Dodge during World War II. An upgraded version of the WC-62, it featured an additional front-mounted winch for enhanced versatility. Powered by a 92-horsepower Dodge six-cylinder engine, the WC-63 excelled in transporting troops, supplies, and equipment across challenging terrain. Its robust design and all-wheel drive made it reliable in diverse combat environments. Commonly used by U.S. and Allied forces, it also served as a platform for communication and medical evacuation roles. The WC-63 played a significant logistical role in ensuring operational mobility and support during the war.
Dodge WC 63 6x6 1.5-Ton Truck
Designed as a Weapons/Troop Carrier for the Dodge WC series of light military trucks, the WC 63 was essentially a stretched version of the WC 51 with an additional axle making it a 6x6. This lengthening came as a direct result of the US Army's decision to increase the size of a rifle squad from eight to twelve men. With a 1.5 ton payload, the WC 63 could not haul as much as the ubiquitous 2.5 ton M35 "Deuce-and-a-half" but it was nevertheless produced in vast quantities and formed an integral component of the US Army's logistical force.
