Swiss Airlines Boeing 777300-ER "Luzern" / HB-JNK /

JC Wings 1:200 / XX20591

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is Switzerland’s leading airline, formed in 2002 following the collapse of Swissair and part of the Lufthansa Group since 2005. It serves more than 100 destinations worldwide from its main hubs in Zurich and Geneva. Swissair was originally founded in March 1931 through the merger of Balair and Ad Astra Aero. It was nicknamed the “flying bank” due to its financial stability and prestige, and it symbolized Swiss excellence and precision in the 20th century. An aggressive expansion strategy involving the acquisition of stakes in other European airlines, coupled with the shock of the September 11, 2001, attacks, led to its bankruptcy and the infamous grounding of all flights in October 2001. The acquisition of the assets of the former regional airline Crossair and the remnants of Swissair led to the launch of Swiss International Air Lines in March 2002. The Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) fleet consists of approximately 90 aircraft owned outright, supplemented by aircraft leased from other airlines (such as Helvetic Airways) for its regional routes. Highly standardized to optimize costs, the fleet relies primarily on Airbus and Boeing aircraft.

The Boeing 777-300ER, registered as HB-JNK and named “LUZERN,” is a long-haul wide-body aircraft operated by Swiss International Air Lines. Delivered in November 2019, it is powered by two General Electric GE90-115B
