Equipped with a range of equipment, including surface-to-air missiles, the extremely versatile Lotus later makes an unforgettable landing in the middle of a crowded beach full of stunning scenery. The Lotus Espirit submersible was brought to life in "The Spy Who Loved Me" through both miniature special effects photography and the construction of a full-size, functional incarnation built by naval engineers based in Florida. The submarine was built from an Espirit hull supplied by Lotus and fitted with four propeller units, ballast tanks, and electrical power from sealed batteries in a watertight compartment. During filming in the crystal-clear waters of the Bahamas, the vessel was controlled from the inside by a former Navy SEAL in full diving gear.
