1953 Hudson Hornet - #6 Fabulous Hudson Hornet
Miniature replica of the 1952 Hudson Hornet #6 Race Car as sold at Barrett-Jackson auction, as driven by Marshall Teague. Sold to Scottsdale in 2017.
Launched in September 1950 for the 1951 model year, the Hudson Hornet is undoubtedly the most famous model that Hudson has ever made, making its debut in 1948 and quickly outperforming the Detroit Big Three as one of the first new post-war American car models to be manufactured. Hudson car manufacturer with low volume compared to the huge Detroit ones, the Hornet was a strong competitor in showrooms, with dynamic sales stimulated by the total domination of the Hornet in NASCAR and AAA stock-car for 1954. In fact, the Hudson was one of the first and most popular participants in the sport, along with the young engineer Vince Piggins, the future performance parts wizard at Chevrolet, in charge of the company's new performance elements program he designs and provides Hudson runners with a multitude of improved parts that meet competition specifications, Piggins and his team are behind the famous Twin H-Power dual carburettor intake system.
