Leyland A34 Comet  South African Defense Force, South Africa, 1960s

 Diecast Model

The Comet tank was in battle during the Second World War and in Korea where it sometimes fought alongside what was to be its replacement, the Centurion. The Centurion was based on the Comet model, but it was much heavier. The Comet continued to be used by British forces until the late 1950s, when it began to be sold in other countries. In 1954, South Africa began to acquire 26 Comet tanks and, over time, transformed some of them into armoured battlefield maintenance and repair vehicles. Several comets are found in South African museums.

The British Cruiser Tank A34 "Comet" was designed to correct some of the problems with the Cromwell Tank as well as to provide a better anti-tank capability to their squadrons. So he didn't participate in big battles, but with his new main gun, he was able to capture Germany's big tanks. After the Second World War, the comet fought in Korea and remained in the British inventory until 1958. The Comet was sold to 5 other countries and some even operated until the 1970s.

  1. Construction in die-cast metal with some plastic components.
  2. Rotating turret, lifting gun and precise hull.
  3. Painted, mounted, immobile tracks on detailed fixed wheels.
  4. Realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels and surface details.
  5. Pad-printed markings and placards that will not fade or flake like decals.
  6. Transparent acrylic display to protect the model.
