It is distinguished by frequent departures (often hourly), a streamlined check-in process, dedicated boarding gates, and complimentary snacks and beverages served on board. Launched in 1991, this service meets the flexibility needs of business commuters.

The Boeing 727-200 Advanced N413DA was a short- to medium-range trijet aircraft, emblematic of the Delta Air Lines fleet in the 1980s and 1990s, particularly within the Delta Shuttle service. This improved “Advanced” (Adv) version offered increased capacity and greater efficiency, allowing it to carry more than 130 passengers on high-density routes such as New York–Boston.
