 V-22 Osprey USMC  Presidential Flight

The Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey is a multi-mission American tiltrotor military aircraft with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) and short take-off and landing (STOL) capabilities. It is designed to combine the functionality of a conventional helicopter with the long-range and high-speed cruising performance of a turboprop aircraft.

The failure of Operation Eagle Claw during Iran's hostage-taking in 1980 highlighted the need for a new high-speed, long-range, vertical take-off aircraft for the Defense Ministry of the United States. United States. The Joint JVX (JVX) program was therefore launched in 1981. A partnership between Bell Helicopter and Boeing Helicopters was awarded a development contract in 1983 for the V-22 tiltrotor aircraft. The Bell Boeing team jointly produces the aircraft. The V-22 flew for the first time in 1989 and began flight testing and design changes; the complexity and difficulties of being the first tiltrotor of military service led to many years of development.

The United States Marine Corps began training the Osprey crew in 2000 and commissioned it in 2007; he completed and then replaced their Boeing Vertol CH-46 Sea Knights. The other operator of Osprey, the US Air Force, put into service its version of the tiltrotor in 2009. Since it entered into service with the Navy Corps and the Air Force Osprey has been deployed in medical transport and evacuation operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Kuwait.
