Dassault Mirage IIICJ Shahak

IDF/AF 101st Sqn, no. 56, Giora Epstein, Hatzor AB, Israel, Six-Day War, 1967

Hobby Master 1:72 HA9805

Giora Epstein, Israel's top ace, flew the Mirage IIICJ during the 1967 Six-Day War. Piloting this agile French-built interceptor, Epstein showcased exceptional skill and precision in air combat. The Mirage IIICJ's advanced radar and powerful cannon complemented his aggressive tactics, enabling him to achieve multiple aerial victories. Epstein's success in the Mirage contributed significantly to Israel's air superiority during the conflict. His remarkable combat record, combined with the Mirage's capabilities, cemented his legacy as one of the world's greatest fighter aces. The 1967 war highlighted the Mirage IIICJ as a highly effective platform in Israeli service.

Dassault Mirage IIICJ Shahak

Designed to meet a French government specification for a lightweight, all-weather interceptor, the Dassault Mirage III was first flown on November 17, 1956. This supersonic aircraft has a tailless delta wing configuration and is capable of high speeds (a Mirage IIIA was the first European aircraft to exceed Mach 2 in level flight). It has a provision for a SEPR liquid-fuel rocket engine, which provides additional burst thrust. In production for over a decade, the Mirage III is considered one of Europe's most successful military aircraft designs, serving 20 different nations, some of whom still fly it today.
