Malaysia Airlines is Malaysia’s national airline, based at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Founded in 1947, it experienced significant growth before facing major financial crises and two tragic disasters in 2014 involving flights MH370 and MH17. The Boeing 777-200ER, registered as 9M-MRA and nicknamed “Super Ranger,” is an iconic aircraft for Malaysia Airlines, delivered in April 1997 to coincide with the airline’s 50th anniversary. It made history by breaking two world records for distance and speed in the same year, flying nonstop from Seattle to Kuala Lumpur. This aircraft was retired from service in 2016 but remains a symbol of Malaysia Airlines’ expertise and ambitions.
