Singapore Airlines is Singapore's national airline, founded in 1947 as Malayan Airways. It is recognized worldwide for its excellent service, its main hub at Changi Airport, and its modern fleet, which includes aircraft such as the Airbus A380 and A350. Founded on May 1, 1947, as Malayan Airways Limited, it operated its first charter flight between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In 1972, the company split into two separate entities: Malaysian Airline System and Singapore Airlines (SIA). It became one of the first airlines in Asia to adopt the Boeing 747, rapidly expanding its routes to Europe, Australia, and North America. As part of its branding, it introduced the iconic “Singapore Girl” concept in 1973. It was the first airline to launch trans-Pacific commercial flights and record-breaking direct ultra-long-haul routes.

The Boeing 777-200ER, registered as 9V-SRI (MSN 30867), is a wide-body long-haul aircraft that flew for Singapore Airlines, characterized by its long range, twin-aisle configuration, and the airline’s classic livery. It rolled off the assembly line and was delivered new to Singapore Airlines on June 28, 2001; it was subsequently withdrawn from Singapore Airlines’ active fleet and sold/transferred to Access Industries under the registration N777UK.
