Lockheed F-22A Raptor

USAF 325th FW, 43rd FS Hornets, #01-4203, Joshua 'Cabo' Gunderson, Tyndall AFB, FL

Hobby Master 1:72  HA2833

Joshua Gunderson, call sign Cabo, is a US Air Force F-22 Raptor pilot best known as a former F-22 Demonstration Team pilot. Flying the F-22A, Cabo showcased the aircraft's extreme maneuverability, supercruise, and advanced flight control capabilities at major airshows across the United States. His routine emphasized high angle of attack maneuvers, rapid power changes, and tight energy management unique to fifth generation fighters. Gunderson's demonstrations highlighted both pilot skill and the Raptor's dominance in air superiority roles. As an experienced combat and instructor pilot, Cabo helped represent the F-22 program and the Air Force to the public while promoting airpower professionalism and precision flying.

Limited Edition, each hand-signed by the pilot, Maj. Gunderson.

Lockheed F-22A Raptor

Designed to meet a US Air Force requirement for an Advanced Tactical Fighter (ATF) to replace the F-15 Eagle, the F-22 was first flown on September 29th, 1990. The USAF's ATF program aimed to produce a fifth-generation air superiority fighter that would be better matched against emerging new aircraft such as the Su-27 Flanker. The F-22 uses stealth technology and can function in air superiority, ground attack, intelligence and electronic warfare roles. Despite its capabilities, the F-22 program was relatively short-lived; by 2010 its high cost coupled with the development of the F-35 (a more versatile and less expensive aircraft) led to a cessation of F-22 production funding.
