Sun Country Airlines is a U.S. low-cost airline founded in 1982 and based at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP). Positioned as a charter airline, a scheduled carrier, and a leisure airline, it has undergone several acquisitions and financial restructurings. Acquired in 2017 by Apollo Global Management, it made a definitive shift toward an ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) model and cargo transport (notably for Prime Air). It went public in 2021. It primarily operates Boeing 737-800s and has introduced Boeing 737-900ERs to support its growth.

Sun Country’s Boeing 737-900 N904SY (MSN 44225) rolled off the assembly line in May 2015 (MSN 44425) and was initially delivered to Oman Air under the registration A4O-BZ. Acquired by Sun Country in 2023 after the end of its lease with Oman Air, the aircraft was refurbished and then registered as N904SY in June 2025. It made its first commercial flight for Sun Country on September 26, 2025, on the Minneapolis-Saint Paul (MSP)–Phoenix (PHX) route.
