Mikoyan-Gurevich MIG-17F Fresco 2050, 921st "Sao Do", 6 Nov. 1965

Hobby Master 1:72 HA5917

The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17F Fresco “2050” of the 921st Fighter Regiment “Sao Đỏ” (Red Star) represents one of the iconic fighters of the Vietnam People’s Air Force during the early major air battles of the Vietnam War.

Developed as an evolution of the MiG-15, the MiG-17F was powered by a Klimov VK-1F turbojet with afterburner. Although subsonic in level flight, its outstanding maneuverability, compact size, and formidable armament of two 23 mm cannons and one 37 mm cannon made it an extremely dangerous opponent in close-range combat.

Aircraft “2050” is associated with the famous 921st Fighter Regiment “Sao Đỏ,” one of North Vietnam’s earliest and most important fighter units. Hobby Master represents the aircraft specifically on November 6, 1965, during a period when Vietnamese pilots were confronting technologically more advanced American aircraft by exploiting the MiG-17’s strengths: rapid attacks, tight turns, and close-range engagements.

These encounters demonstrated that a relatively simple fighter from an earlier generation could remain a formidable adversary against much faster American aircraft when flown with effective tactics.

With its natural-metal finish, distinctive red-and-yellow national insignia, and tactical number 2050, this MiG-17F captures the unmistakable appearance of the early VPAF fighters operating over North Vietnam.

Recreated in 1:72 scale by Hobby Master, HA5917 features primarily die-cast metal construction, a detailed cockpit, configurable landing gear, and a display stand for an impressive in-flight presentation.

MiG-17F + “Sao Đỏ” + Vietnam 1965: an icon of the early air war over Vietnam and an outstanding addition for military aviation and Hobby Master collectors.

Hobby Master "1:72 Air Power Series" diecast airplanes feature:

  • Molded metal construction with plastic components.
  • Realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels and surface details.
  • Inscriptions and posters printed with a stamp that do not fade or fall off like decals.
  • opening of awnings, revealing detailed within the cockpit.
  • Extended / retracted interchangeable landing gear.
  • Display stand to display the aircraft "in flight".
  • Authentic detachable artillery cargoes complete with placards.
