The McDonnell Douglas F-4B Phantom II BuNo 150476, representing VMFA-323 “Death Rattlers” of the U.S. Marine Corps in 1967, captures one of America’s most iconic combat aircraft during the Vietnam War era.
The F-4 Phantom II was a powerhouse: twin-engined, two-seat, and capable of speeds exceeding Mach 2, it could perform interception, escort, strike, and ground-support missions. Its ability to carry a substantial combination of missiles and bombs made the Phantom one of the most versatile combat aircraft of its generation.
Aircraft 150476 is represented with the famous VMFA-323 “Death Rattlers,” a historic United States Marine Corps squadron instantly recognizable by its distinctive rattlesnake emblem. In 1967, the squadron operated the F-4B during the Vietnam War era, when Marine Phantoms were heavily employed in combat and in support of forces operating on the ground.
This period also represents the golden age of American high-visibility military aircraft markings. The F-4B’s classic grey-and-white scheme, large U.S. national insignia, and colorful VMFA-323 markings give this Phantom tremendous character compared with the subdued schemes of later decades.
Powered by two formidable General Electric J79 turbojets, the F-4B could carry weapons including AIM-7 Sparrow and AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles. Early Phantom variants famously lacked an internal gun, reflecting the missile-focused air-combat doctrine of the period.
Recreated in 1:72 scale by Hobby Master, HA19085 captures the unmistakable presence of the Phantom II, the distinctive Death Rattlers markings, and the character of U.S. Marine aviation during the Vietnam era.
Phantom II + Vietnam + VMFA-323 “Death Rattlers”: three legendary names brought together in one striking model. A must-have for F-4, U.S. Marine Corps, and American military aviation collectors.
