Mitsubishi T-2

JASDF Blue Impulse, no 59-5111, Hamamatsu AB, Japan

The Blue Impulse aerobatic team was part of the 21st squadron of 4 Air Wing and is currently attached to the 11th squadron of 4 Air Wing. Created in 1960 and equipped with F-86s, the team re-equipped with the Mitsubishi T-2 in 1980 and finally with the Kawasaki T-4 in 1995. The Mitsubishi T-2 59-5111 is nicknamed Triple Sticks in reference to the Triple 1's. The T-2 was retired in 2006 and the 72-5111 was sent to the JASDF Air Park as a museum piece. There were 90 T-2s built.
