Spitfire Mk. IX MJ755 was delivered to RAF No. 43 Squadron in August 1944. In 1947 approximately 120 Spitfires; including MJ755 were transferred to the Hellenic Air Force equipping three Squadrons. By 1954 all Spitfires were retired from service and eventually scrapped; all but MJ755 that was stored and eventually became the gate guard at Tatoi AB and then moved to the Hellenic Air Force Museum. It was decided to make the plane airworthy so in 2018 it was shipped to Biggin Hill for a total restoration.

The Spitfire had 40 major variants and was built in greater numbers than any other British aircraft of the time. He flew operationally on all fronts between 1939 and 1945 and participated in all major actions of the Royal Air Force.
