McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II  USAF 3rd TFW, 3rd TFS Peugeots Operation Desert Storm 1991

Six F-4Es from the 3rd TFS/ 3rd TFW "Peugeots" based in Clark AFB, Philippines, participated in Hickman AFB en route to Incirlik AB, Turkey, but two had to stay in Spangdahlem due to mechanical problems. On February 22, 1991, the unit completed its first mission led by F-4E 73-1199, the 13th flagship of the AF. The mission involved the removal of the AAA for the F-16s flying against Al Mosul. Once their mission was completed, the F-E left Incirlik on March 19, 1991 and went directly to AMARC. In 2017, 73-1199 was scrapped.

McDonnell Douglas F-4J Phantom II
Designed as a defence fighter for the US Navy, the F-4 Phantom flew for the first time on May 27, 1958. This twin-engine, long-range fighter/bomber proved to be highly adaptable and served in the Marine Corps and US Air Force as well as the Navy. During the Vietnam War, it was the main air superiority fighter of the Navy and the Air Force and was also used for reconnaissance and ground attacks. The Phantom continued to serve for much of the 1970s and 1980s and even carried out missions during the first Gulf War. Finally Replaced by the F-14, F-16 and F/A-18, the Phantom was withdrawn in 1996.
