U.S.S. Enterprise Aircraft Carrier - CVN-65
The USS Enterprise (CVN-65) was the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier in the world and the eighth American military ship to bear this name. Like its predecessor of the fame of the Second World War, it was nicknamed "Big E". At 1,123 feet (342 m) in length, it is the longest military ship in the world. The Enterprise had a crew of approximately 4,600 and was commissioned on November 25, 1961. At the time of its dismantling, the Enterprise was the second oldest U.S. Navy ship after the USS Constitution with a wooden hull, having served 51 consecutive years, longer than any other American aircraft carrier.
