The M1A2 TUSK I (Tank Urban Survival Kit) is a variant of the M1A2 Abrams main battle tank used by the United States Army. The TUSK I modification adds a variety of upgrades to the standard M1A2, including additional armor, a remote-controlled weapon station, and enhanced communications capabilities. The 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armoured Cavalry Regiment was equipped with the M1A2 TUSK I. The camouflage pattern is the one used by 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armoured Cavalry Regiment, during their deployment to FOB Hammer, Iraq in 2011.
The M1A2 TUSK I was first deployed to Iraq in 2007, and it was used extensively during the conflict there. The TUSK I's additional armor and urban fighting capabilities proved to be highly effective in the complex urban terrain of Iraq. It was also used in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 and Operation New Dawn in 2010.
The M1A2 TUSK I's advanced armor and weapons systems made it one of the most formidable tanks in the world, and it played a key role in the defeat of the Iraqi military.
