Consolidated PBY-5A  Catalina US Navy - Postage Stamp 1/150 PS5556-4

Produced by Consolidated Aircraft, the PBY Catalina was a flying boat that later became an amphibious aircraft, used by several countries in the 1930s and 1940s. It was a long-range aircraft that did not need a runway to operate, as it was capable of taking off and landing on water. Uses of the PBY included maritime patrol, bombing, anti-submarine warfare and search and rescue missions. The PBY saved thousands of lives by remembering its role in rescuing downed airmen. Catalina's airmen called their planes "Cat" for combat missions and "Dumbo" for air-sea rescues. 

This die-cast metal model aircraft is 1:150 scale with a plastic support and is approximately 5 1/8 inches long with a wingspan of 8 1/4 inches.
