Mitsubishi Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero-Sen/Zeke

IJNAS, V-107, Japan - Saburo Sakai

1/97 - Postage Stamp PS5343-4

The postage stamp die-cast metal, historical airplanes include aircraft from WWI to present. They are fully decorated with authentic details and come with a display stand. Wingspans are from 4 1/2" to 8".

The A6M2 "Zero" is a carrier-based fighter aircraft operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. It was the Allies' main opponent in the Pacific air war, combining long range with superior maneuverability and firepower. It had a maximum speed of 331 mph (532 km/h) and the ability to climb to 6,000 m in under 7.5 minutes, with tremendous range of 1600 miles. It was a legendary deadly weapon in a dogfight, and was famous for its ability to outmaneuver American fighters at the start of the war. The allied forces eventually caught up with the Zero, with development of better aircraft and better techniques, and towards the end of the war the Zero was mostly used for Kamikaze attacks against Allied naval ships. This model is a replica of the Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero, tail V-107, piloted by legendary Saburo Sakai. Japan's most recognized ace.

Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero-Sen/Zeke
First flown in April, 1939, the A6M Zero-Sen was the Allies' main opponent in the Pacific and the most famous symbol of Japanese air power during World War II. This carrier-based fighter, designed with a low-monoplane wing and armed with a formidable array of two 20mm cannons and two 7.7mm machine guns, proved capable of handling any of the Allies' aircraft. It wasn't until the Allies studied a captured Zero that they were able to identify and exploit weaknesses such as minimal pilot and fuel tank protection. Zeros became infamous for Kamikaze attacks, in which pilots would intentionally crash explosion-laden aircraft into Allied ships

Best Zero ever!

I received my package yesterday, opened it - and fell in love.

Everything from the paintjob to the finer details of decals, is perfect; I love that it represents Saburo Sakai - whose motto in life was always "Futo Fukutsu" (Roughly translates as "Never give up".)

The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is that the propellor doesn't spin. : (

Aside from that I will treasure this diecast model for life.
