Lockheed P-38 Lightning 23 SKIDOO

The Lockheed P-38J Lightning was an American fighter used by the US Air Force during the Second World War. Developed to U.S. Air Force specifications, the P-38J was equipped with two separate twin booms and a single central nacelle carrying the pilot and weaponry. The P-38J was a formidable fighter, interceptor and attack aircraft, and was also widely used as a long-range escort fighter. The Lightning's greatest assets were its two engines, long range, heavy payload, high speed, fast climb and concentrated firepower.
The P-38J 23 Skidoo is one of the few Lightings in flight. It was restored in July 1988 with the marks of Captain Perry Dahl's Lightning of the Second World War while fighting on the Pacific Front. 23 Motorcycling is a saying from the 1920s that refers to "going out while things are going well". He is currently based at the Planes of Fame Air Museum in Chino, California.
