1969 Dodge Dart GTS 440 Hardtop in Purple  with Vinyl Top

Limited Edition of ?

The 1969 Dodge Dart GTS with 440 M-code engines is familiar: To face increasingly fast competitors in the Stock Eliminator categories, a larger, non-productive engine was installed in the engine compartment. The warning, of course, was that the specialty model had to be built in sufficient quantity to satisfy the sanctioning bodies, NHRA being the 800-pound gorilla wearing the technical inspection patch on its jacket.

To give it all the credit it deserves, the Dart compact 440-powered package was originally designed and built in 1968 by Chicago dealer Norman Kraus (Mr. Norm) and his Grand Spaulding Dodge dealer. He was the Don Yenko of the Mopar world in 1967 when he installed a 383 in a Dart and nicknamed it the GSS, after the factory insisted that it could not be done. When he proved the people of Highland Park wrong, they launched the Dart GTS with the same big RB block
The following year, he doubled the bet with the 440 in his Dart GSS, at least 50 of which were produced to make cars eligible for NHRA Super Stock competition. Once again, Mother Mopar followed suit and offered the factory's official GTS Dart, the M-code, 440-powered GTS in 1969. In 1969, the total production of SMT was 6,285 rigid roofs and 417 convertible convertibles. Only 640 of the hardtops were equipped with an M code.

Features include:
• opening doors, trunk, and hood
• fully poseable steering
• working suspension
• fully wired and plumbed engine
• fully detailed interior
• rubber tires
• serialized plate
