Supermarine Spitfire Mk Vb / "Battle of Britain Memorial Flight"
Designed by R.J. Michell to meet a specification from the British Air Ministry, the Supermarine Spitfire first flew on March 5, 1936. Thanks to its beautiful fighter design, the excellent performance of its Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and the firepower provided by two twin guns and four machine guns, the Spitfire has become an unparalleled symbol of victory. The Spitfire had 40 major variants and was built in greater numbers than any other British aircraft of the time. He flew operationally on all fronts between 1939 and 1945 and participated in all major actions of the Royal Air Force.
