Belavia is a Belarusian airline. Its head office is established in Minsk. Belavia was created on March 5, 1961 by the Belarusian government with the aim of "restructuring air transport in Belarus. In May 2021, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo requested that the company's planes no longer be allowed to land in airports of the European Union because of the hijacking of the plane carrying Roman Protassevich, an opponent of the Belarusian government, by this same government6. The European Union subsequently announces, on Monday, May 24, 2021, the closure of EU airspace to Belarusian aircraft.
