In 2021 the Blue Angels flight demonstration team celebrated their 75th Anniversary. They were established in 1946 as a means to increase interest in naval aviation among the general public, as well as boost Navy morale. The first display was held on June 15, 1946 at Jacksonville, Florida. The Blue Angels are the second oldest flight demonstration team after the French Patrouille de France established in 1931. F/A-18F 165679 MSN 1516/F018 formerly with VFA-122 is the youngest "F" model assigned to the Blue Angels. This aircraft has also been seen wearing #4.

F/A-18F Super Hornet

Designed to replace the A-4 Skyhawk and the A-7 Corsair II and in addition to the F-14 Tomcat, the F / A-18 first flew on November 18, 1978. Perhaps best known as the US Navy Blue Angels aircraft, this all-weather supersonic fighter capable of carrying passengers, has many roles, including fighter escort, fleet air defense and close air support. The F / A-18 is a versatile aircraft: it can operate from carriers or ground bases and a single switch converts it to hit mode. During Operation Desert Storm, the F / A-18 demonstrated that during a single mission, an aircraft could serve as both a fighter and a bomber.
