AQ-209 "Starwarriors" is a United States Naval Reserve electronic attack squadron that moved to Naval Air Facility Washington in 1990 and began transitioning to the EA-6B Prowler. VAQ-209 was deployed several times over the next twenty years, including to Bosnia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan. In May 2013, the Starwarriors made their final flight in the EA-6B Prowler and began moving to NAS Whidbey Island, Washington, to transition to the new EA-18G Growler. Grumman EA-6B 161883 was assigned to VAQ-209 as a CAG aircraft.

Grumman EA-6B Prowler

Developed from the EA-6A electronic intruder, the EA-6B is a carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft that first flew on 25 May 1968. The Prowler is a key component of any USN or USMC strike force, as it disrupts and jams enemy radio and radar signals, protecting attack aircraft in the accomplishment of their mission. The aircraft can also be equipped with anti-radiation missiles designed to penetrate enemy radar installations and neutralize surface-to-air missile threats. After a long history with the EA-6B, the US Navy began transitioning to the F/A-18G Growler in 2009.
