In November 1968, VAH-2 was re-designated as Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 132 (VAQ-132). In January 1971 VAQ-132 Scorpions were the first unit to receive the new EA-6B Prowler and the first operational Prowler squadron. In 2004 and 2007 the Scorpions deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and one aircraft was EA-6B 161350 c/n P-94. In 2009 the venerable Prowler was replaced by the Boeing EA-18G Growler. The Scorpions' home base is NAS Whidbey Island, Washington.

Grumman EA-6B Prowler

Developed from the EA-6A Electronic Intruder, the EA-6B is a carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft that was first flown on May 25th, 1968. The Prowler is a key element in any USN or USMC strike-force by disrupting and jamming enemy radio and radar signals, providing protection for attacking aircraft as they carry out their mission. The aircraft can also be equipped with anti-radiation missiles desigend to home-in on enemy radar installations and neutralize surface-to-air missile threats. After a long history with the EA-6B, the US Navy began transitioning to the F/A-18G Growler in 2009.
