Panavia Tornado GR. 4

RAF No.41(R) Sqn, ZA600, RAF Coningsby, UK, Sqn 95 ans 2011

Hobby Master 1:72 HA6726

In 2011, Tornado GR.Mk 4 #ZA600, based at RAF Coningsby, England was decorated in this special commemorative paint scheme to celebrate RAF No.41 Squadron's 95th Anniverary. No.41 Squadron is one of the RAF's oldest and most distinguished squadrons. Initially flying biplanes, the squadron played a crucial role in both World Wars, transitioning through various aircraft, including the Spitfire in WWII. Post-war, No. 41 Squadron has operated a range of jet aircraft, including the Tornado GR4 and the Eurofighter Typhoon. Today, it serves as a test and evaluation unit, responsible for developing and integrating advanced weapons and systems. The squadron's rich history and ongoing contributions underscore its importance in the RAF's operational capabilities

Panavia Tornado GR.4

Designed in collaboration with Britain, West Germany and Italy, the Tornado was first flown on August 14th, 1974 and is thought by many to be the most important military aircraft in Western European history. Nicknamed "The Flying Fin" because of its large tail fin, the Tornado has a variable wing sweep design and is capable of taking off and landing on short airstrips. It is equipped with terrain-following radar, which allows for hands-off, low-level flight in any weather. There are three primary versions: an electronic combat/reconnaissance version, an interceptor and a highly versatile strike fighter-bomber capable of carrying almost all of NATO's air-launched weapons.

Hobby Master "1:72 Air Power Series" diecast airplanes feature:

  • Molded metal construction with plastic components.

  • Inscriptions and posters printed with a stamp that do not fade or fall off like decals.
  • opening of awnings, revealing detailed within the cockpit.
  • Extended / retracted interchangeable landing gear.
  • Display stand to display the aircraft "in flight".
  • Authentic detachable artillery cargoes complete with placards.
