RF-4E Phantom II Diecast Model
IIAF, #2-434, Iran, 1970s

Hobby Master 1:72  HA19072

In the 1970s, the Imperial Iranian Air Force (IIAF) operated the RF-4E Phantom II, a reconnaissance variant of the versatile F-4 Phantom. These aircraft were equipped with advanced cameras and sensors for strategic reconnaissance missions, essential for gathering intelligence over Iran's vast territory and beyond. The RF-4Es were part of Iran's modernization efforts, strengthening its surveillance and intelligence capabilities during a time of regional tensions. Pilots trained intensively in low-altitude, high-speed reconnaissance techniques, allowing them to evade enemy radar. The IIAF's use of the RF-4E underscored its commitment to modern air capabilities before the 1979 revolution.

McDonnell Douglas RF-4E  Phantom II

Designed as a fleet defense fighter for the US Navy, the F-4 Phantom was first flown on May 27, 1958. This twin-engine, long-range all-weather fighter/bomber proved highly adaptable and served in the Marine Corps and the US Air Force as well as in the Navy. During the Vietnam War, it was the principal air superiority fighter for the Navy and the Air Force and was also used for reconnaissance and ground attack. The Phantom continued to serve well into the 1970s and 1980s and even flew missions during the first Gulf War. Finally phased out by the F-14, F-16 and F/A-18, the Phantom was retired in 1996.
