Lockheed F-16D Fighting Falcon

RMAF, no. 08-8018, RAF Fairford, UK, RIAT 2024

Hobby Master 1:72  HA38051

At the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) 2024, the Royal Moroccan Air Force (RMAF) showcased two F-16 Fighting Falcons: a single-seat F-16C and a twin-seat F-16D. These Block 52 models, equipped with conformal fuel tanks and painted in distinctive desert camouflage, marked Morocco's first participation in nearly 30 years. The RMAF's F-16s were part of RIAT's "Viper Line," celebrating the 50th anniversary of the F-16. This lineup featured over 20 F-16s from various operators, highlighting the aircraft's global significance. The RMAF's participation underscored Morocco's commitment to international defense cooperation and showcased its advanced air capabilities.

Lockheed F-16D Fighting Falcon

Designed by General Dynamics as a lightweight, daytime USAF air-combat fighter, the F-16 was first flown on January 20th, 1974. This single-engine, supersonic aircraft has, over the years, evolved into a multirole aircraft. It has a frameless bubble canopy-giving its pilot superior visibility-and it uses advanced aerodynamics. The F-16 was one of the first designs to use a relaxed static stability/fly-by-wire system, which helps it pull 9-g maneuvers and achieve speeds of more than Mach 2. Called "Viper" by its pilots, the F-16 is considered one of the most successful aircraft designs of the Cold War, with 4,400+ aircraft built since 1976.
