The CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) was the national airline of the People's Republic of China, founded in 1952 and split up in 1988. It operated as both the sole airline and the regulatory authority before being divided into six regional airlines (including Air China, China Eastern, and China Southern) to stimulate competition. It operated all domestic routes and, beginning in the late 1970s, launched international routes.

The Boeing 747-2J6B(M) registered as B-2450 (MSN 23746 / LN 670) is a historic airliner that operated for the CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) and later Air China. This aircraft is a “Combi” model (-200M), capable of carrying passengers and cargo simultaneously on the main deck. The aircraft was delivered to the CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) in March 1987. It bore the livery of the Chinese state-owned airline, operating on long-haul international routes. Following the restructuring of the CAAC, the aircraft was transferred to Air China in July 1988, where it continued to bear the registration B-2450.
