TAP Air Portugal is Portugal’s national airline, founded on March 14, 1945, under the name Transportes Aéreos Portugueses. Based at Lisbon-Humberto Delgado Airport, it serves dozens of international destinations in Europe, Africa, and the Americas (North and South). It has been a member of the Star Alliance since 2005.

The Airbus A321neo (a re-engined version of Airbus’s successful single-aisle aircraft) in the LR variant, registered as CS-TXE, enables TAP to operate transatlantic routes (particularly to North America and the northeastern United States/Canada) with increased range and fuel efficiency. It entered service in March 2020. It is equipped with modern CFM LEAP-1A32 engines and is typically configured to offer a Business Class (Executive) cabin with “throne” seats (1-1 and 2-2) and a comfortable Economy Class cabin.

In keeping with the airline's tradition of naming its aircraft after prominent figures in Portuguese culture, the CS-TXE was named after Fernando Pessoa, one of Portugal's most illustrious writers, poets, and philosophers.
