Ethiopian Airlines is Ethiopia's national carrier and Africa's largest airline, based at Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa. Founded in 1945 with the assistance of TWA (Trans World Airlines), it operated its first commercial flight to Cairo in 1946. It has become a model of success on the African continent and has been a member of the Star Alliance since 2011. It operates one of the youngest and most modern fleets in Africa, serving more than 130 international destinations around the world.

The Airbus A350-1000 XWB, registered as ET-BAX, joined the Ethiopian Airlines fleet in December 2024, marking the second A350-1000 delivered to the carrier (the very first A350-1000 in Africa having been delivered in November 2024). It is operated on the airline’s high-demand international routes, connecting the Addis Ababa hub to major global cities (such as Washington, D.C., London, Paris, and Frankfurt).
