Olympic Aviation was a Greek regional airline, a subsidiary of the well-known Olympic Airways, founded to serve the Greek islands and operate short-haul connecting flights, particularly to link less-accessible islands with short runways. Its fleet consisted mainly of ADAC (short takeoff and landing) twin-turboprop aircraft such as the Dornier 228 for island-hopping.

The Dornier Do-228-200, registered as SX-BHC (MSN 8030), is a twin-engine turboprop (Garrett TPE331 engines) high-wing transport aircraft capable of carrying approximately 19 passengers and renowned for its performance on short runways. The aircraft experienced a few minor incidents or runway excursions during its demanding operations in the Greek islands (notably in December 1993 in Sitia and January 1994 near Athens, with no serious injuries), before ending its operational career.
