Alitalia Cargo was the cargo division of the Italian airline Alitalia, playing a key role in international freight transport from hubs such as Milan-Malpensa Airport. It specialized in long-haul cargo transport to Asia (Osaka, Shanghai) and the Americas. It operated several large three-engine jets, including McDonnell Douglas MD-11s converted to all-cargo or combi (mixed passenger/cargo) configurations.

The MD-11F/Combi, registered as I-DUPA (MSN 48426/458), was originally delivered in July 1991 as a demonstration/manufacturer’s aircraft, then entered service with Alitalia on March 27, 1992, as a Combi version (MD-11C). It was converted and unveiled by Alitalia in May 2005 as the first aircraft in the family to be fully converted to an all-cargo configuration for routes from Milan-Malpensa to Asia. Re-registered as EI-UPA in July 2005 (and again in June 2006), it left Alitalia in January 2009 for Pegasus Aviation, before being leased to Centurion Air Cargo / SkyLease Cargo under the U.S. registration N986AR. It was withdrawn from active service in the late 2010s.
