Sukhoi Su-27K Flanker-D

Russian Navy, Blue 109, Admiral Kuznetsov, Mediterranean Sea, 1996

With Kh-41 Moskit Missile

Hobby Master 1:72 HA6050

The Sukhoi Su-27K Flanker-D is a Soviet/Russian all-weather carrier-based twin-engine air superiority fighter derived from the Su-27. It has upgraded engines and strengthened undercarriage with a twin nosewheel. It includes canards as well as larger wings than the standard Su-27. The wings and stabilators are also foldable. The Su-27K was introduced in the mid-1990s and from December 1995 to March 1996, Admiral Kuznetsov set sail in the Mediterranean Sea, carrying two Su-25UTGs, nine Ka-27s, and 13 Su-27Ks. The aircraft officially entered service on 31 August 1998 under new designation "Su-33".

The Flanker-D is also capable of carrying the Kh-41 Moskit - a large supersonic ramjet-powered anti-ship cruise missile. The missile is capable of reaching Mach 3 with a range of 75 - 150 miles. It can carry conventional or nuclear warheads.

Sukhoi Su-27K Flanker-D

Designed by the Soviet Union to challenge the superiority of fourth generation US fighters such as the F-15 Eagle, the Su-27 was first flown on May 20, 1977. This one seat Mach-2 fighter had the Soviet Union's first operational fly-by-wire system. The aircraft is very large compared to the MiG-29, its closest Soviet counterpart, but it is built with a high percentage of titanium, which helps minimize its weight. It is exceptionally agile and is perhaps most famous for its "Cobra" maneuver, which is a short, sustained level flight at a 120 degree angle of attack, often performed at air shows

Hobby Master "1:72 Air Power Series" diecast airplanes feature:

  • Molded metal construction with plastic components.

  • opening of awnings, revealing detailed within the cockpit.
  • Extended / retracted interchangeable landing gear.
  • Display stand to display the aircraft "in flight".
  • Authentic detachable artillery cargoes complete with placards.
